    City Stakeholders

The relationship between Developers and Cities has long been established.

It is mutually beneficial as projects create jobs, upgrade infrastructure, provide services and often meaningfully contribute to the ability of the City to attract noteworthy employers, anchor ‘tenants’ and highly beneficial tourists, and the dollars they bring.

However, as the relative arrival of digital out-of-home media varies by Province, Region and City, the prevailing regulations, permitting guidelines, and variance process varies as well. While rules & regulations continue to evolve to address the changing ‘digital aesthetic’ within the urban plan and City skyline, DTCM seeks to work in partnership with individual Cities and their stakeholders to help define mutually beneficial provisions for these unique, ‘temporary’ implementations (that are largely un-defined in most bylaws).

By working together with Cities, DTCM seeks to deploy these Property Owner-based implementations to not only support City developers, but also provide significant incremental benefits to the Cities where they are permitted, and the people that live, work, traffic and visit them.

    Property Owners

As the market continues to grow and evolve, DOOH implementations are not only becoming more prevalent in ‘high-traffic’ (vehicular and pedestrian) areas, but also being viewed as increasingly requested by Property Owners.

They provide a means of financially capitalizing on their portfolio of locations – in a whole new way. Given global digital trends, disruption in the traditional advertising market and the prevailing shift from push to pull (Property Owner requested) demand for profitable DOOH implementations, an extension of this DOOH channel to temporary high-profile construction sites – TEMPORARY DIGITAL OUT OF HOME (T-DOOH) – is unique and valuable channel extension that is poised to become a standardized and specified component within urban construction.

DTCM T-DOOH solutions are temporary – on active construction projects – only being available during the tenure of each job. As such, for many, DTCM locations are a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity and command a significant market premium.

Not only do DTCM’s Temporary Digital Out of Home solutions represent a significant opportunity for passive revenue generation during the costly and disruptive period of construction, but through their implementation T-DOOH can address many of the prevailing issues that surround development in urban areas and occupied spaces. Issues with Urban Development Sites

Not only do DTCM’s Temporary Digital Out of Home solutions represent a significant opportunity for passive revenue generation during the costly and disruptive period of construction, but through their implementation T-DOOH can address many of the prevailing issues that surround development in urban areas and occupied spaces.

    • Static signage clutters hoarding, as a result, effective communication is lost.
    • There is no clear delineation between worker vs. pedestrian communications.
    • Large construction sites tend to have a negative effect on nearby small businesses.
    • Construction sites can tend to be a messy eyesore.
    • Construction sites change shape as development goes on; digital is an easier solution to update.

    Benefits

By working together with Cities, DTCM seeks to deploy these Property Owner-based implementations to not only support City developers, but also provide significant incremental benefits to the Cities where they are permitted and the people that live, work, traffic and visit them.

There will be some direct benefits to the City of Toronto and the businesses it serves:

    • Incremental, ongoing signage tax revenues through this implied, temporary OOH channel extension
    • Negotiable, in-kind City or City partner ‘spots’ (gifted in consideration of partnership) on valuable, high-impact sites
    • Consideration (ability, through temporary DOOH sign revenue to partially offset their construction investments) for development partners that contribute to job creation, infrastructure upgrading and overall city attraction
    • Signage would allow for better wayfinding communication and promotion of businesses in the immediate area
